… Introducing the Gentlemen Project …
In all my years and years of commuting, I have been pinched, poked, hit, pushed, smacked, elbowed, shoved, groped, rubbed, patted, and even spit on. Ninety-nine percent of the time by men.
I have found my limbs shoved in the little space between the station platform and the train on numerous occasions.
I have had my personal items pushed from my hands and then walked upon with no apology.
I have even been smacked in the face once. By a man rushing to catch a train. And then he turned and laughed.
BUT – last week – for the first time in all my commuting, a GENTLEMAN offered me a seat.
And I am not saying women {with the exception of pregnant women} deserve a seat, but it sure was nice. And maybe if a male was given their due – they would stop and be a little more courteous. That is the point of the GENTLEMEN PROJECT.
From here on out I will not only thank these gentlemen, but I will ask to take a picture of them and post them right up – to illustrate to all women where the good ol’ boys have gone. And more importantly – an insanely rude commuter will get shamed – and maybe that will urge him to change his evil ways.
